Etapa 1, Paraíso, llevando a los corredores en una ruta a través del Valle del Cauca,  desde Cali hasta Rozo. Al salir del Hotel Spiwak, hay un ascenso inmediato y descenso  tecnico por El Perro, antes de una subida más larga hasta Medio Dapa con clima  notablemente más fresco. El ascenso más largo pasa por El Choco en el camino hacia  la cumbre de la etapa a unos 1.700 msnm, antes de un largo descenso a través de un  camino de grava rápido, retorcido y estrecho, con una magnífica vista del Valle.  Cruzando el poderoso Río Cauca, luego se pasará por un laberinto de campos de caña  de azúcar y las tradicionales haciendas. La meta es en Restaurante La Tinaja, famoso  por su delicioso plato de valluno, Sancocho de Gallina. Todos los corredores disfrutarán  de una deliciosa porción de Sancocho luego los autobuses lo trasladarán a Buga.

Stage 2, Cloud Forest, is based in the beautiful Colombian countryside around the  colonial town of Buga, one of Colombia's most popular tourist destinations. Starting at  Hotel Guadalajara alongside the Guadalajara river, you'll cycle west into the Central  Cordillera, past La Virgen, with views of Buga, and the Valle del Cauca below with its  sugar cane fields and Cauca river. You will then descend to the village of La Magdalena  for the first of 2 laps. Once past La Magdalena the climb continues to Altos de El  Janeiro, where the cooler temperature sees the appearance of cloud forest, before a  fast descent back to the small town of La Magdalena with school children out to push  you on. After completing your second lap you will descend to the Finish at Parque El  Vergel.

Don’t think you’ve done it all in Hermanus. We made the stage a little shorter but that’s so we could add more of the good stuff in the Hemel en Aarde valley – some superb singletrack awaits the riders. Some familiar, some fresh. They’re linked with some ‘Absa Cape Epic-specific’ trails that are unrideable outside of the event. Take note… steep climbs and long, technical descents.
